Energy Autonomy

Of all the issues outside of uncontrolled government spending, foreign energy dependence is the single largest factor destroying our economy. Conservative candidates, both at the Federal and State levels, MUST make energy autonomy one of the cornerstones of their campaign policies. Energy autonomy goes far beyond energy independence, and includes:

1. Opening up as much oil and natural gas exploration in the nation as the market would like
2. Using clean coal technologies to contain coal-burning emissions
3. Exporting energy to meet international demand
4. Increasing production to the point where American energy resources control the price of energy both in our country and globally

Energy autonomy will turn around our balance of trade problem while helping shape the global economy away from our foreign enemies.  It also increases federal and state revenues through energy tariffs without additional taxes to business and citizens.

 The Golden Way Out

• Curb the power of the Department of the Interior and EPA to regulate and appropriate land as “off limits” to energy exploration
• Use clean coal technologies to make burning fossil fuels cleaner
• Take a page from North Dakota and Canada for energy creation and economic growth
• Resume oil drilling in the Gulf of Mexico without the “boot of government” on the throats of oil companies
• Create incentives for new oil refineries around the country
• Allow the free market to determine the expansion of “green” energy, including further exploration of nuclear power
